Community Volleyball Association (CVA) completes its Inaugural 18-Under tournament with the final match between Antipolo Rizal’s California Academy and Taguig’s Gracel Christian College as televised on Light TV yesterday Sunday, 11/10/2019.
The touted CAL (California Academy) Phoenix, who also won the Pre-Season Tournament, won in straight sets over Taguig’s Gracel Christian Blue Wolverine in the scores of 14-25, 24-26, 26-28.
First set shows the mastery of CAL with the tentative Blue Wolverines but the Taguig girls woke up and bring the heat up in both second and third set with close scores of 24-26, 26-28, bringing 2 set match and 2 match point until the eventual winner California Academy closes the show.
“Setter po ang pinakaimportante kasi di po kami makakapalo. Si Kizzie Madriaga.”
CAL has pretty busy slate and the Grade 9 POG Jelaica mentioned they just finished and won a tournament yesterday. “Nagulat lang po kami marami po kasi kaming league na sinalihan and tambak na po kami. Gaya po ng Rebisco Batang Pinoy Luzon Volleyball League Regionals, champion po kami, magrerepresent sa Nov 30 sa Nationals kalaban namin Malaysia etc.” The team was also this year’s Silver Medalist at the CALABARZON Regional Championship.
But beyond their busy slate, the POG enjoys joining the new CVA Amateur Tournament and hopes to one day become her idol Rachel Ann Daquis.
